Passengers that have spent the last 14 days in Hong Kong can now travel to the United Kingdom quarantine-free* when they fly with Qatar Airways. As one of the countries on the United Kingdom COVID-19 travel corridors, passengers travelling via Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar are not required to undergo the mandatory 14-days self-isolation restriction. From the moment Business Class passengers arrive on board, they will be greeted with a seasonal welcome drink and a specially designed bespoke holiday menu card, featuring a range of flavoursome holiday dishes including smoked salmon tartare with pink pepper seared scallops, beetroot and ikura roe, beef wellington with turmeric mashed potato, grilled sweet potato, pumpkin, oyster mushroom and beef jus, and a spicy raspberry chocolate dome for dessert.

Premium customers will also be presented with quiet reminders of this holiday season, including a festive napkin band wrapped around the cutlery pack and a rich hot chocolate with marshmallows. Passengers can stay entertained with the extensive collection of festive movies on the Oryx One Inflight Entertainment system and enjoy the airline's turndown service when it is time for rest, complete with the added comfort of the signature limited edition 'Seasons Greetings' message pillow.

On 30 November, Christie's held four themed live auctions for Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art: The Chang Wei-Hwa Collection of Archaic Jades - Xia, Shang and Western Zhou Dynasties, Inspiring the mind - Life a scholar-official, Imperial Glories from the Springfield Museums Collection, and Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art.

The combined sales realized a total of HK$323,363,750 / US$41,922,755, with the top lot of each sale all surpassing their pre-sale high estimates.

"We are excited to offer a selection of Donum wines to Hong Kong, especially as people may not be able to travel to visit us at the Estate during this time. With our terroir-driven ideology, our wines can transport people to our vineyards with each sip," added Dan Fishman, Donum Winemaker. 

Donum has been gaining visibility in Hong Kong of late through the Donum Collection and having hosted receptions to celebrate its artists alongside the annual "Art Week" in March. 

The Estate features over 40 major artworks from artists across the globe, including Ai Weiwei, Yayoi Kusama, Louise Bourgeois, Keith Haring, Zhan Wang, Elmgreen & Dragset, Yue Minjun, Jaume Plensa, Subodh Gupta, Danh Vo, Doug Aitken and Tracey Emin, among others. "Perhaps it's idealistic to say that art and wine are both examples of humankind striving to connect on a deeper level with the world around us. But as someone who has devoted such an extensive amount of time and love to both subjects I believe the bond is genuine," stated Sarah Heller, MW. 

Alongside the distribution, Donum will be added to the wine list of the Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant and art space Duddell's. "Our clients have a deep and active appreciation for the arts. People come together over food and wine, in an environment that connects art and people. With Donum's monumental art collection and artist-designed labels, it's a great addition to our wine list," said Duddell's Co-Founder Alan Lo⁠.

To embrace the blissful season, The Temple House has prepared a series of sustainable seasonal celebrations in alignment with Swire Hotels' sustainability vision. The House is proud to present a seven-meter gold-coloured Christmas tree constructed partly from recycled bamboo. Aside from the Christmas tree, The Temple House hosted a charity Christmas bazaar to spread the spirit of giving and sharing.

For the past four years, The Temple House has commissioned a one-of-a-kind tree that incorporates whimsical elements created from recycled materials.

This year, the unconventional Christmas tree features bamboo partly recycled from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding decorated with hundreds of golden ornaments. After the festive season, the bamboo will be reused to house the herb garden in our courtyard during the winter months. The Christmas tree-lighting ceremony, an annual tradition, was held at the courtyard of The Temple House in the evening of 5 December. 

Our guests, media friends and the community were invited to celebrate the tree-lighting ceremony and took part in the festivities with Christmas carols performed by the children of Soong Ching Ling Kindergarten, festive candies and a photo session with Santa Claus for guests to bring home a memorable Christmas moment. In the spirit of giving, a charity Christmas bazaar was also held in the courtyard on the same day offering a wide range of festive items, including traditional Christmas mulled wine, panda cookies and cupcakes. 

The proceeds will be donated to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in support of critical research and conservation of the giant panda. Committed to giving back to the community this holiday season, the House provided an opportunity for non-profit organisations to introduce themselves to the local community through vibrant booths of their goods and services, including Animals Asia Foundation, Zero Waste Chengdu, and Haihui Better Community. Animals Asia Foundation sends therapy dogs to the disabled and the elderly in the city through its Dr Dog programme. 

Zero Waste Chengdu, the first environmental consultancy in Southwest China, specialises in zero waste and the circular economy, assisting organisations with TRUE (total resources usage and efficiency). Haihui Better Community focuses on rural poverty alleviation and revitalisation. 

Going forward, The Temple House will continue to celebrate the festive season with sustainability and supporting local community as the focus.

Elegant bamboo trees frame the House’s entrance, which is set in a beautifully restored hundred-year-old Chinese courtyard built in the Qing Dynasty. 澳洲獨立搖滾創作歌手 Courtney Barnett 公布2020年12月17日香港時間下午5時,將於墨爾本皇家展覽館舉行網上直播音樂會。演出將會安排全球不同時區播出,而這次也是Courtney Barnett 繼今年1月為 Corner Hotel 叢林大火籌款音樂會後的首次演出。

門票現已於 Ticketflap 公開發售: Courtney Barnett 的家鄉墨爾本早前經歷超過100天的封城隔離,因此本來在巡演途上的她也必須留在家中。雖然全球巡演必須終止,但 Courtney 也利用這次機會重整自己的思緒,深入思考及休息並進行不同創作。 

 而現在, Courtney Barnett 重新出發,連同她的樂團(Bones Sloane、Dave Mudie和負責大提琴的最新成員Lucy Waldron)在澳洲最非凡的建築之一,墨爾本皇家展覽館,打造一個獨特的演出。 Courtney將與導演Derry Sheehan合作,在墨爾本最美麗的地標建築之一 – 墨爾本皇家展覽館的展覽廳中央現場表演。 屆時將大玩她的經典作品及率先演出一系列新作。 

 門票現已於 Ticketflap 公開發售,這個演出並不會開放現場門票售賣予觀眾,所以如果想看Courtney Barnett 的表演,就不要猶豫,立刻購票支持直播音樂會。 演出的名字《 From where I’m Standing》乃 Courtney Barnett 的大熱單曲《City Looks Pretty》的其中一句歌詞,無獨有偶,創作該歌曲時,Courtney正進行自我隔離尋找創作靈感。而收錄該歌曲的2018年專輯《Tell Me How You Really Feel》於這幾個月重聽,赫然發現其中的內容儼如預言般有代入感。

墨爾本皇家展覽館於1879年為墨爾本國際展覽會(第八屆世界博覽會)建造,是澳洲第一座獲得聯合國教科文組織世界遺產名錄的建築。宏偉的皇家展覽館被維多利亞博物館(Museums Victoria)環繞,已於 Courtney Barnett 的家鄉聳立140年。 該建築於1880年的建造者David Mitchell,是著名歌劇女高音Nellie Melba夫人的父親 – Courtney Melba Barnett的中間名正正是由這位女高音而來。 

 Courtney 非常高興,可以與Driift聯手打造該公司於澳洲的首個製作。Driift 乃創新的演出宣傳及製作公司,為觀眾帶來頂級的售票網上直播活動。自成立以來,已與著名一線音樂人如Nick Cave、Kylie Minogue 、Niall Horan及Laura Marling Bay 等多個單位合作。 墨爾本的皇家展覽館坐落在東部 Kulin Nations的Boonwurrung和Woi Wurrung(Wurundjeri)人民的國家內。 Courtney Barnett、Look Out Kid及Driift承認該土地的傳統所有者。

On 2 December 2020, Christie's Hong Kong held three evening sales - Modern and Contemporary Art, Sanyu: Goldfish, and the first leg of the 20th Century: Hong Kong to New York sale. The sales realised a combined total of HK$1,419,235,000 / US$183,951,985.

An extraordinary moment of the evening was the setting of a new record for Zhang Xiaogang with Bloodline: Big Family No. 2 realising HK$98,035,000 / US$12,706,657, a new price benchmark for Chinese Contemporary Art.

Goldfish (left) realised HK$170,170,000 / US$22,056,326, establishing a record for a painting depicting an animal subject by the artist. This follows the world auction record for the artist set by Five Nudes and also the record for any still life painting set by White Chrysanthemum in a Blue and White Jardiniere in November 2019 and July 2020 respectively. Another highlight of the evening was Pink Chrysanthemums in a Basket (right), which achieved a strong price of HK$138,110,000 / US$17,900,917, continuing to demonstrate Christie's market leadership and unparalleled expertise in offering the greatest works by Sanyu at auction.

Works by Modern artists formed a key component of the sales, achieving a combined total above their high estimates. In addition to the exceptional performance of Sanyu works on offer, other highlights of the evening were Nu sur un lit, avec un chien (Reclining Nude with A Small Dog) by Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita (left), which achieved HK$37,450,000 / US$4,854,025, almost four times over its pre-sale low estimate, and Manners of the Hometown of Lu Xun by Wu Guanzhong (right), which realised HK$21,850,000 / US$2,832,055, and Tiangge (Market Scene) by Vicente Silva Manansala, which set a new auction record for the artist.

A further backbone of the sales was the exceptionally strong offering of leading post-war abstract works by international masters. 15.01.82 – Triptyque by Zao Wou-ki achieved HK$94,600,000 / US$12,261,435 and La Forêt Blanche I (The White Forest I) by Chu Teh-Chun, realised HK$42,250,000 / US$5,476,169. Abstract highlights from the Hong Kong to New York relay sale were Chigakusei Tekkyoshi by Kazuo Shiraga, which sold for HK$23,050,000 / US$2,987,591, and Souvenir de la maison d'Autriche (Remembering the House of Austria) by Georges Mathieu, which achieved a new auction record for the artist at HK$17,290,000 / US$2,241,017.

All Western artworks offered across the sales were sold, with the sale total exceeding pre-sale high estimates. Leading the group was the magnificent Elevator by Dana Schutz (middle), which realised HK$50,050,000 / US$6,487,154. The superb work Still Life by Nicolas Party (right) achieved HK$10,450,000 / US$1,354,461, and the sensational Baba Diop by Amoako Boafo (left) realised HK$8,890,000 / US$1,152,264. Other highlights by leading contemporary artists such as Eddie Martinez, Cecily Brown, Shara Hughes, and Mary Corse also performed exceptionally well.

The selection of artworks by Southeast Asian artists performed very strongly, with the section exceeding its pre-sale high estimate. Leading the group of works by Southeast Asian artists was Tiangge (Market Scene) by Vicente Silva Manansala, which realised HK$7,450,000 / US$965,620 and set a new auction record.

On 1 and 2 December 2020, Christie's held two live auctions of Chinese Paintings – Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings and Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy.

The combined sales realized a total of HK$315,610,000 / US$40,907,310, with the top lots of each sale selling for multiple times over their estimates. The results demonstrate Christie's ability to offer renowned private collections and coveted works by Chinese masters.
Sale Highlights - Both Chinese Paintings sales surpassed their pre-sale high estimates - 62% of lots sold above high estimates across the combined sales. The Chen Lifu Collection was 100% sold, achieving HK$17,100,000 / US$2,217,158, nearly tripling its pre-sale high estimate Kim Yu, International Specialist Head of Chinese Paintings Department, commented, "The results from our sales this season are a testament to Christie's strength in selling private collections of Chinese paintings.

Not only did works by master artists such as Wu Guanzhong, Fu Baoshi, Shen Zhou and Wen Zhengming perform extremely well, but a number of pieces this season achieved sale totals multiple times over their low estimates, further demonstrating Christie's ability to offer the most coveted Chinese paintings to the most distinguished collectors."
