At this time in history one can hardly go anywhere in Beijing without listening to the melodious sounds of a building site. In fact, if you are sleeping in your bed and not hearing the sounds of construction, consider yourself in a rare situation.
Those of us who live in Beijing have had to become used to the many and varied sounds of building sites as we rush toward the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
