Qatar Airways has become the first global airline in the world to achieve the prestigious 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating by international air transport rating organisation, Skytrax.

The announcement follows a detailed audit, carried out by the Skytrax team in December 2020, which assessed how effectively and consistently the airline's stringent COVID-19 hygiene and safety standards and procedures are adhered to, from flight check-in to on-board aircraft.

This included a full review of procedural efficiency checks, visual observation of hygiene and safety levels at all stages of the passenger journey, and on-board Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) sampling tests to measure the potential level of contamination of contact surfaces.

The achievement of the Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating is in addition to Qatar Airways' home and hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA), recently being named as the first airport in the Middle East and Asia to be awarded a Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airport Safety Rating in December 2020.

Qatar Airways' on-board safety measures include the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for cabin crew and a complimentary protective kit for passengers. Qatar Airways continues to lead the recovery of international travel, operating the world's first fully COVID-19 vaccinated flight today. QR6421 will depart Hamad International Airport at 11:00 AM carrying only vaccinated crew and passengers onboard, with passengers also to be served by fully vaccinated staff at check-in. 

The special flight, which will return to Doha at 14:00, will showcase all the measures the airline has put in place to ensure the highest standards of safety and hygiene on board, including its latest innovation, the world’s first ‘Zero-Touch’ in-flight entertainment technology. 

The special service will be operated by the airline’s most technologically advanced and sustainable aircraft, the Airbus A350-1000, with the flight also fully carbon offset in line with the carrier’s environmental responsibilities.

JD Logistics JD has established Tibet's largest smart logistics center, after over 100 automated ground vehicles (AGVs) were put into use in the 27,000 square-meter logistics center in Lhasa, on Jun. 9. 

The AGVs are supporting the sales surge during the ongoing 618 Grand Promotion. JD is upgrading the service of its autonomous delivery vehicles during the ongoing 618 Grand Promotion period. Simultaneously, 30 new Level-4 autonomous vehicles were put into use in Changshu, Jiangsu province on Jun. 10. 

International Business JD launched its first cargo flight between China and the US on Jun. 7, following the recent launch of its China-Thailand charter flight in May 28. The China-US route will be an “end-to-end fully self-operated route to facilitate the transport of quality Chinese products to the US and vice versa,” said Stard Huang, president of JD International Logistics. 

Retail JD and Walmart have launched a new omni-channel marketing model called "Jing-Wo New Initiative," which will make use of JD's strength in omni-channel and supply chain middle platform to help brands integrate product launching resources across all channels, expanding new products' touch points and exposure among customers, and more. 

Walmart will leverage its 400+ stores across the country, its online stores including several Walmart flagship stores (both first-party and third-party modes) and more to support the program. As China’s income levels and quality of life rises, so too has its electronics consumption index, according to a new report released by JD Data Research Institute and Xinhua News Agency on Jun. 9.

Continuing its fervent support of the arts in Hong Kong, Pacific Place is excited to present Michael Craig-Martin at Pacific Place from 19 May to 9 June as part of Swire Properties Arts Month 2021. This year also marks the ninth consecutive year of Swire Properties' partnership with Art Basel Hong Kong. Three unique sculptures by Michael Craig-Martin, a principal figure in British conceptual art, will be exhibited for the first time in an indoor space at Pacific Place, together with another of the artist's works, Royal Academy Flags1.

Visitors to Pacific Place will be the first to enjoy the sculptures before they move on to be displayed at Taikoo Place and then find a permanent home at Taikoo Li Qiantan in Shanghai. Standing at imposing heights of 2.5 to 4 metres, Michael Craig-Martin's three powder-coated steel sculptures, Bright Idea, Headphones (blue) and High Heel (pink), are prominently displayed in Pacific Place. Above them, suspended from the roof of Garden Court, hang his Royal Academy Flags1.

Together, the sculptures and flags highlight the poetic and emotional potency of everyday objects, probing the relationship between object and image. Their vibrant colourway creates a striking presence against the backdrop of Pacific Place, with passers-by given the opportunity make their own personal interpretations of each work. "Bright Idea, Headphones (blue) and High Heel (pink) depict instantly recognisable objects from contemporary life, emphasising their formal beauty, functional integrity and cultural significance,"

Michael Craig-Martin explained. "Through graceful lines formed from powder-coated steel, they give the impression of floating effortlessly above the ground. The delicate contours of these sculptures allow the viewer to look through them to the landscape beyond, playing upon the relationship between drawing and sculpture, line and scale."

Liang Yi Museum is pleased to present Family Silver: Highlights from the Liang Yi Collection, a landmark exhibition presenting 150 sets of historic silver from the 18th to 20th century, drawn solely from the Museum’s permanent collection. The largest of its kind in Hong Kong, the exhibition will showcase this rare metal's heritage, design and craftsmanship, explore the lineages of generations of silversmiths; and trace how silverware functions as family heirlooms. Family Silver: Highlights from the Liang Yi Collection will open on 16 June 2021.

Silver has long been used in the East and West, both as a type of currency and as a canvas for extraordinary workmanship.

This precious material has been praised for its beauty, intrinsic value, flexibility and durability for centuries. This exhibition provides a rare opportunity for audiences to explore the Museum's preeminent silverware collection's artistic, social and historical significance. Acquired over three decades, Liang Yi Museum’s collection of silver comprises more than 500 sets. The curators have chosen only a quarter to be displayed, and for many of the objects, it will be their first time in the spotlight after their acquisitions into the Museum’s collection.

The Museum’s collection consists primarily of French and British silver from the 18th and 19th centuries – a particularly fecund period for silversmiths, and one in which silver was available in previously unheard-of quantities in the New World, and at the height of fashion in both the New and Old Worlds. Silversmiths of unparalleled skills such as English masters Paul Storr (1770–1844) and Benjamin Smith (1764-1823) and his sons; as well as the French Jean-Baptiste Claude Odiot (1763–1850) created true masterpieces during this time. Common phrases such as “born with a silver spoon in your mouth” suggests that - in the Occident at least - this material has been collected by the wealthy as an expression of power since ancient times. 

The ancient Greeks and Romans used silver coins as portable wealth; and throughout the many wars and revolutions in history, silver was valued as much for its liquidity (melting down the family silver); as for its artistic applications. In 18th and 19th century Europe, silver was another area of patronage for the rich, who commissioned multitudes from silversmiths. The tradition of aristocratic families commissioning silver to mark important occasions such as weddings, births and deaths makes it the perfect anchor to inspire a greater understanding of pivotal events and historic moments in time. 

Each piece recounts a story that constitutes our most immediate connection to the past. Family Silver is divided into nine sections: lighting; writing; dining; display; toilette; coffee and tea service; alcohol service; vanities; and a special section dedicated to Asian silver. Highlight galleries include a recreated Chinoiserie reading room; a dining hall that illuminates the evolution of dining traditions in the West; and interactive galleries that teach visitors how to read hallmarks and coats of arms. 

Key exhibits include a pair of candelabra made in 1837 presented to Howe Peter Browne, 2nd Marquess of Sligo (1788-1845) by the slaves he emancipated in Jamaica; and a 19th-century silver-gilt tray with Napoleon I's coat of arms (1769-1821): both pieces are not only major artistic accomplishments in their own right, but also demonstrate the major historical events silver pieces have witnessed. The intricate designs and meticulous construct; in addition to the marks and inscriptions on these objects, each brings their fascinating history to life. The exhibition invites visitors to explore the social dynamics and economic contexts within which silver was commissioned, produced and used; and examines the perception and value of silver that has evolved from the age of industrialisation. 

From the livelihood of silversmiths and the guild system; to the commissioning of silver pieces; and finally, the use of silver placed in its historical context – all are instrumental in appreciating both silver’s tangible and intangible associations. The exhibition is a testament to Liang Yi Museum’s commitment to showcasing the best design, craftsmanship, and heritage examples. Known for one of the world's largest and best-curated collections of Chinese antique furniture, along with a premier collection of European vanities, the Museum’s recent exhibitions provide a notable insight into its evolving collections of Japanese works of art and Western historical silver. 

The Museum aims to continue fostering cross-cultural dialogues, nurturing the knowledge and understanding of heritage and its relationships to contemporary life, and serving as a platform for creativity and inspiration through curated exhibitions and dynamic educational programmes. A fully illustrated catalogue edited by Liang Yi Museum and Daniel Roberts featuring over 200 highlight silver sets from the Museum's collection, with essays written by Christie’s Head of Silver, Harry Williams-Bulkeley; art historian Dr. Joanna Longden; and French Empire silver specialist Dr. Karolina Stefanski, will accompany the exhibition.

With the APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH., Leica Camera releases yet another M-lens whose optical performance can hardly be bettered. As with the successful APO-Summicron-M 50 f/2 ASPH., the designers were given just one brief: to achieve maximum imaging performance without compromise – the only difference being that this time, the lens in question has a moderate wide-angle focal length of 35 mm. 

The result is a lens whose sharp detail rendition will challenge not just current, but also future image sensors; in addition, the APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. is the only M-lens with a closest focusing distance of just 30 centimetres, which – in conjunction with the high light sensitivity – opens up a host of new compositional possibilities. This exceptional performance capability is made possible by the elaborate lens design, combined with the high-precision manufacturing processes at the Leica production plant. The ten lens elements are divided into five groups; three elements feature aspherical surfaces (one of them on both sides). 

APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH

Six elements are made of glasses with anomalous partial dispersion, which not only reduce chromatic aberrations to almost zero, but also provide apochromatic correction – a quality that is rarely found in lenses of this focal length. 

The APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. also delivers outstanding results at close range, thanks to a floating element that ensures a consistent performance at all distances. The focus ring has a particularly large throw of 300°, enabling precise focusing at all times despite the extended closest focusing distance. Via the rangefinder, the lens can be focused at a distance as close as 70 cm – at which point a slight resistance can be felt on the focus ring. At distances between 70 and 30 cm, the photographer can optionally focus via the camera’s display screen in Live View mode, the Visoflex electronic viewfinder, or the Leica FOTOS app. 

The innovative construction of the lens hood, in combination with highly effective anti-reflective coatings, makes the APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. extremely resistant to any type of stray light – allowing the photographer to shoot into the sun or other sources of light. Optical flaws such as chromatic aberration and distortion are almost entirely corrected. 

This – together with the extremely high, edge-to-edge contrast rendition – facilitates an especially pronounced bokeh at open aperture. Seeing as the aperture is almost circular (thanks to the use of eleven blades), this effect is also retained when the lens is stopped down. Even more than any other M-lens, the APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. only has to be stopped down for compositional purposes – never for exposure control. The rendition quality at the centre and edges of the image is already so outstanding that there is no scope for further improvement by stopping down. Despite its exceptional performance, the APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. is both compact and light-weight. With its classic reportage focal length, this is a lens for every photographic situation that can be used on any current and future model of the M series, as well as the Leica SL2 and SL2-S. The APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. is immediately available at specialist stores as of now for HKD$64,800.

The Arrivals and Departures series by Danish photographer Jacob Aue Sobol (born 1976), was produced during his trip from Moscow to Beijing, on the Trans-Siberian Railway. However, there were virtually no opportunities to take pictures along the way, and the atmosphere on the train did not live up to Sobol's expectations. Consequently, he decided to spend a couple of days respectively in Moscow, Ulaanbaatar, and Beijing. He was inspired by many new impressions and photographed landscapes, street scenes, and, above all, people he met at the time. Sobol's motifs are powerful and emotional; his portraits, in particular, seem radical and direct. 

Closely cropped, the images convey a familiarity and often intimate closeness with his new friends. For the photographer, the journey through Russia, Mongolia, and China was also a journey to his own self. At the same time, Sobol sees the motifs as an invitation to the viewer to consider the images as a reflection of one's own feelings.

For Sobol's expressive, high-contrast black and white imagery, revealed in his landscape motifs and portraits, the Leica M Monochrom, which he used for the first time in 2012, turned out to be the perfect travel companion. The photographer effortlessly succeeded in continuing to produce his unique, raw aesthetics, but now in digital format.

信和集團(「集團」)與黃廷方慈善基金共同舉辦1950年代攝影作品展:《瑪喬麗.多格特鏡頭下的新加坡 李福志鏡頭下的香港》,展覽由歷史遺珍攝影基金會策劃,並獲新加坡駐港領事館支持,將於2021年4月1日(星期四)至2021年5月30日(星期日)在信和廣場開放予公眾參觀。

新加坡駐港總領事符秀麗女士表示:「是次展覽有兩個重要意義。首先,在大家熱切期待開展旅遊氣泡、重新恢復實體旅遊之時,我很高興能夠透過這次的展覽,讓香港朋友認識新加坡的歷史文化,藉著藝術和攝影作品讓我們跨越時間及地理的界限。李福志生於新加坡,我相信從他的角度看香港也別具意義。此外,新加坡與香港一向關係密切,香港不僅是新加坡人最大的海外聚居地之一,我們在經濟和人與人之間的聯繫牢固。

這些紀實照片將帶領大家踏上時光之旅,呈現東西融合﹑傳統與現代結合的城市面貌,讓我們重拾往來香港及新加坡旅遊的熱情。」 是次展覽將分別呈獻早期女性攝影師瑪喬麗.多格特(Marjorie Doggett)鏡頭下,1954至1957年的新加坡城市面貌,以及自學成師的攝影師李福志於同期攝下的香港街景及當代車輛。照片將帶領參觀者穿越時光隧道,了解香港和新加坡兩地於1950年代的共同歷史回憶。

瑪喬麗.多格特和李 福志的照片均攝於超過半世紀前,呈現出1950年代新加坡及香港的景色,見證了兩地經濟轉型的關鍵時期。參觀者將透過這些照片看出當時的歷史背景及建築特色,從50年代德輔道、中環和軒尼詩道的街頭面貌,到當年長洲海傍、元朗平原稻米種植及客家村落等新界鄉郊風情。與此同時,參觀者亦能從瑪喬麗.多格特的照片中認識1950年代的新加坡面貌,包括當時紅燈碼頭拱道下的富麗敦大廈、萊佛士書院、新加坡河兩傍的特色倉庫,以及哥烈碼頭的十九世紀建築物。

照片中不少地標都見證著兩地的歷史性時刻,令作品更顯彌足珍貴。 是次展覽由攝影師及攝影歷史專家艾思滔(Edward Stokes)策劃,他對二十世紀中期的亞洲照片甚有研究,擅於用文字描述每位攝影師的生平故事及時代背景,為每張照片賦予故事。2019年,艾思滔與歷史遺珍攝影基金會及新加坡NUS Press共同出版了攝影書集《Marjorie Doggett's Singapore》,展示了大量多格特當時從未曝光的照片。

同年,艾思滔亦與新加坡富麗敦酒店及新加坡舊國會大廈藝術之家合作舉辦攝影展覽,向大眾呈獻多格特的代表作。 展覽策展人及歷史遺珍攝影基金會創辦人艾思滔先生表示:「2019年於新加坡舉辦的展覽十分成功,我很榮幸能把展覽帶到香港,再次呈獻瑪喬麗.多格特的作品,同時加入李福志的作品,呈現兩地城市面貌的鮮明對比,並透過他們緊密連繫又極富感染力的故事,紀念兩位已故攝影師。」 展覽期間亦設一系列免費教育導賞團供公眾及學校登記參與,將介紹兩地的歷史、建築風格、著名建築物及城市面貌變遷。

Defending champion Sung-hyun Park and World No.1 Jin-young Ko have confirmed on International Women's Day that they will head what is set to be a star-studded field when the HSBC Women's World Championship returns to Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore from 29 April to 2 May this year. Joining them in the elite field will be fellow South Korean and two-time winner of the tournament Inbee Park, major winner Danielle Kang from the U.S. and five-time LPGA Tour winner, Minjee Lee of Australia. 

Recognised as one of the premier golf events in Asia, the HSBC Women's World Championship marks a welcome return for professional women's golf to Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region after its one-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Sung-hyun Park's 'Namdalla' fan club now boasts over 11,000 members worldwide. Translated from Korean to English, 'Namdalla' means 'I am different' and that is certainly the case for this self-taught player with one of the most admired swings in the game. 

She has been a trailblazer since arriving on the LPGA Tour in 2017, claiming the first of her two majors at the US Women's Open together with the LPGA Tour's Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year awards in her debut year. Cool, calm and collected, she returns to Sentosa ranked No.11 in the world and will be keen to add to her tally of seven LPGA Tour wins.* "I'm excited to be coming back to Singapore to defend my HSBC Women's World Championship title. 

It was an exciting final day in 2019 and I managed to put in a strong fourth round to take the championship. The HSBC Women's World Championship is one of my favourite events on Tour and we are all very grateful to HSBC and the Singapore Tourism Board for all their efforts in ensuring this year's tournament takes place. I had immense support out on course in 2019 so I'm looking forward to getting back out there and playing my best golf," said Sung-hyun Park. Jin-young Ko will be looking to find the same form that propelled her to the top spot in the world rankings in her last full season on tour. Combining raw talent with consistency, she made no less than 12 top-10 finishes in 2019, including four wins and two majors.

Tying for third at the HSBC Women's World Championship, the 25-year old will surely be backing herself to claim the top prize in 2021. Champion in 2015 and 2017 and LPGA Hall of Famer, Inbee Park needs little introduction. With 20 LPGA Tour wins under her belt, seven majors and an Olympic gold medal, she knows better than anyone what it takes to win and will be one to watch on the Tanjong Course. Danielle Kang returns to Singapore having come ever so close in 2018, before having to settle for tied-second place behind compatriot and friend Michelle Wie. Currently ranked fifth in the world, she too will see this as an opportunity to build on her five LPGA Tour victories to date.

And while Minjee Lee might not have the home club entourage that usually follows her from Western Australia to Singapore each year, a second place finish in 2019 will be all the encouragement she needs to go one better this year. With safety restrictions set to remain in place until after the tournament, HSBC Women's World Championship 2021 will be a limited attendance event. Prioritising the safety of players, officials and corporate guests, organisers are working with the Singapore Tourism Board and relevant authorities to finalise health and safety protocols for every aspect of the tournament, including adhering to prevailing safe management measures (SMMs) pre and post-event.

Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, fans will still be able to look forward to the intense competition and thrilling action that the tournament has become known for over the years. Qatar Airways is pleased to soon become the first global airline to offer passengers 100 percent Zero-Touch technology for its award-winning Oryx One in-flight entertainment system across the A350 fleet as part of the airline's latest COVID-19 safety measures. 

The Zero-Touch technology, introduced in partnership with the Thales AVANT IFE system, will enable A350 passengers to pair their personal electronic devices (PEDs) with their seat-back IFE screen by connecting to 'Oryxcomms' Wi-Fi and simply scanning a QR code displayed on the screen. They can then use their PEDs to navigate and enjoy more than 4,000 options on offer through the airline's award-winning Oryx One in-flight entertainment system, limiting the frequency of on board surface contact and providing greater peace of mind throughout the duration of their journey. 

Qatar Airways is also set to become the first airline in Europe and the Middle East and North Africa region to offer passengers in Business and Economy the option to pair their personal Bluetooth headphones with the on-board seatback IFE system in all cabins on the Boeing 787-9 fleet.

TMK Rap & Rolls 正式於灣仔開幕 Hip Hop文化碰撞日式美饌 Pirata Group帶來第二間手卷店 一直帶來高質素的美饌配以親民不做作的飲食體驗,Pirata Group再次送上驚喜。繼旗下以手卷和清酒為主軸的TMK Punk and Rolls外再為TMK此品牌多添一員,同樣以音樂結合美食,TMK Rap & Rolls正式在灣仔星街小區面世,為城中帶來最新潮的用餐熱點。 TMK Rap & Rolls令人目不暇給的裝潢是Pirata Group第一個由內部室內設計團隊一手一腳打造的項目。餐廳洋溢著Hip Hop文化和活力,並參照了其在音樂史上的黃金時期。

Following the announcement of "We Are All Warriors - The Basquiat Auction," Christie's 20th/21st Century Art department is proud to unveil another important masterpiece that will be offered at auction in Asia this spring: Potted Chrysanthemums by Sanyu.

This still-life is the largest floral painting by the artist to feature pink blossoms set against vibrant blue branches and is one of the few important late-period still life works still held in private hands, making it exceedingly rare. Within Sanyu's oeuvre, there are only five paintings that depict delicate pink chrysanthemums offset against peacock blue branches and leaves.

Among them, Potted Chrysanthemums is the largest of the five, and the work exemplifies Sanyu's ability to evoke colours inspired by Eastern culture.

Early works by Sanyu focus on the exploration of form, while later works display a bolder investigation of colour. Potted Chrysanthemums is thus a stunning example of Sanyu's mastery of colour, and the expressive potential of hue.

Building upon the world auction records for Sanyu's portrait, still-life and animal-subject paintings achieved over the past three consecutive seasons in Hong Kong, Christie's once again presents a museum-quality masterpiece to international collectors.
